NV Pol Roger Brut Reserve
One of my favourite champagne houses. This entry point has one-third each of pinot noir, pinot meunier and chardonnay from 30 crus, 25% reserve wines, spending 4 years on tirage. It has a flowery bouquet, terrific mouthfeel thanks to a hint of honey, and Meyer lemon cleansing the finish and aftertaste.
95 Points and 2020 Top 100 Wines- James Halliday, Halliday Wine Companion
First Course
2021 Cullen 'Legacy' Sauvignon Blanc
Wow, what a wine! Notes of lime leaves, Meyer lemons, honeysuckle and orange blossoms with crushed stones, pastry and Asian pears. The palate is all about texture, balanced with a midweight mouthfeel and striking acidity. The excellent tension, precision and minerality are profound. Mouthwatering finish. Brilliant length. Not made every year. Grapes must be harvested on a biodynamic picking day. It makes your mouth salivate for minutes after tasting. A real bargain. Drink or hold. Screw cap.
98 Points, James Suckling, jamesusckling.com
2024 Domaine de Ladoucette Sancerre ‘Comte Lafond’
This is a bright, mineral-driven Sancerre with flinty aftershocks. The nose suggests green apple, brioche, crushed shells, toast and white blossom. On the palate, racy acidity rests on a limestone base that enhances florality.
Wine Enthusiast
Second Course
2023 Cullen 'Kevin John' Chardonnay
Great vintage, great wine. It’s the perfect combination. This is right up there with any previous Cullen chardonnay, and if someone argued it to be the best I wouldn’t put up much of a fight. Follows the Cullen biodynamic approach which sees the fruit harvested by hand, whole bunch basket pressed and then fermented in a mix of concrete eggs, amphorae and biodynamic puncheons. The attention to biodynamics is one of total commitment. Engaging aromas of white peach and cumquat with a gentle vanilla bean and lemon curd character. An edge of grapefruit and quince with a sliced pear character adds further complexity. The palate is an incredibly powerful expression of a stone fruit combination complemented by a sprinkle of turmeric and lemon zest. The dry savoury and slightly chalky finish completes a remarkable wine. Where does it sit in the Cullen gallery? You be the judge.
99 Points - Ray Jordan
2021 Morey Coffinet Chassagne-Montrachet 'La Romanee' 1er Cru
5 barrels made from one hectare. Another very pale colour. La Romanée delivers both the most tension and the most flesh on the nose. Still in the fresh white fruit vein. This shows its class on the palate but never fills out in explosive style. Builds slowly on the palate, ripe lemons to finish. Drink from 2026-2030. Tasted Oct 2022.
92-95 Points - Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy
2016 Leeuwin 'Art Series' Chardonnay
100 Points - Andrew Caillard MW, Wine Spectator Top 100 Wines of 2019
99 Points and James Halliday Top 100 Wines of 2019
Pale colour. Fresh flinty, lemon curd, bitter lemon, grapefruit aromas with yeasty, vanilla, roasted hazelnut. Generous ripe peach, nectarine, grapefruit, pear flavours, fine silky textures, superb mid palate creaminess and integrated mineral acidity. Finishes al dente with crunchy nectarine fruits and underlying savoury notes. Lovely extract, volume and persistency. A racehorse. Drink: Now-2036."
100 Points - Andrew Caillard MW, The Vintage Journal
For me, the 2016 Leeuwin is the closest thing, stylistically, to Burgundy - Grand Cru Burgundy - I have seen in an Australian chardonnay. The combination of power, intensity, palate length and precision stamps it as something special. A little element of Puligny, Chassagne, with more than a decent hit of Margaret River. Deciding to give it 99+ wasn't taken lightly. I was pretty sure after the first taste a few weeks ago, surer after sharing a bottle with friends and finally convinced after a third assessment, when I tasted it several times over 24 hours to see how it opened up
99+ Points - Ray Jordan
Third Course
2022 Domaine Jean Monnier Pommard 1er Cru Epenots 'CLOS DE CITEAUX’
The Pommard Epenots Clos de Cîteaux Premier Cru presents expressive notes of blackcurrant, blueberry, cherry and plum. This single vineyard Pinot Noir will appeal to those seeking intense Burgundy Pinot Noir with beautiful length.
Tasting Note
2021 Domaine Jean Monnier Pommard 1er Cru Epenots 'CLOS DE CITEAUX’
Attractive nose of wild strawberries, plums, chocolate, oranges and sweet spices like nutmeg. Some thyme. It’s medium-bodied and layered, with delicious spice undertones to the red fruit. The tannins are still slightly tight, but are bright and fragrant. Drink from 2025.
93 Points - Claire Nesbitt, JamesSuckling.com
2018 Aurelien Verdet Nuits-Saint-George Les Damodes 1er Cru
One of the most modern and fresh of the Burgundian producers, with his point of difference being the soft, fragrant and seamlessly structured and delicious red berry flavours that run through his entire range from Commune to Premier Cru releases. Whilst mid-range in price, the quality of Aurélien’s wines indicate that these are underpriced compared to their peers.
JJ (John Jens)
Fourth Course
2018 Moss Wood Cabernet Sauvignon
The 2018 is so exquisitely perfumed, almost in the vein of a Margaux, and beautifully poised and refined with an effortless length and power all expressed with that typical Moss Wood polish. After sipping my Moss Wood tasting bottle, I took it with me to try with friends later. And it was spectacular, even better on the second day. I reckon if it were possible, I would be enjoying it even more in 40 years time. It is classic Moss Wood that ranks with their best. Is it their best? Yes. As I suspected in anticipation, a great wine from a great vintage. This is a glorious statement from one of the great estates of Margaret River. Classical medium weight in that understated Moss Wood way. Perfectly integrated oak and fine chalky tannins for support. Leafy cabernet notes on the nose with a touch of light bay leaf and brick dust. The minerally edge to the palate holds the line through to the very long finish. The length on the palate is extraordinary.
99 Points - Ray Jordan, The West Australian
2018 Woodlands 'Xavier' Cabernet Sauvignon
Here, today, it is tightly coiled, spicy, and concentrated. The savoury, biscuity oak we often associate with good quality Bordeaux is here in spades, and it encases the kaleidoscopic flavours that lie possible beyond. However, in 10 years, this wine transforms into a powerful and expansive wine of depth, grace, and evocation. From one of Margaret River's greatest all-time vintages, this is a wine for the ages
98 Points Erin Larkin, The Wine Companion
2018 Leeuwin 'Art Series' Cabernet Sauvignon
James Suckling Top 100 Wines of Australia 2022
Deep crimson. Classical blackcurrant cedar aromas with lifted espresso, roasted chestnut notes. Inky deep and beautifully concentrated wine with dense blackcurrant, dark plum, dark chocolate flavours, fine grainy/chocolaty tannins and perfectly integrated cedar oak. A superb grainy firm finish and mineral length. A great Leeuwin Estate Cabernet. Now-2040.
99 Points - Andrew Caillard MW, The Vintage Journal
To Finish
2009 Chateau Guiraud Sauternes 375ml
Subtle aromatic impact. Pear and brie notes and very lively. Just great now! Layers and fun. Dry, appetising finish. Great balance and length.
17.5/20 Points - Jancis Robinson
Midnight Toast
Dom Pérignon Vintage 2015
A super-complex Champagne with chewy tension. Aromas of coffee beans, lemon peel, burnt sugar, chalky minerality, barley candy and tarte tatin. Fine pinprick bubbles with flavors of lemon leaves, aspirin and Mirabelle plums, plus a touch of grapefruit bitterness keeping the tension. Zesty yet integrated chewy acidity and a medium body with a toasted finish. Drink of hold."

Vasse Felix: Global Release of 2022 Tom Cullity
Vasse Felix Tom Cullity 2022 - The Tenth Vintage Release
To celebrate a decade of Vasse Felix's flagship red, Tom Cullity, Vasse Felix Sommelier Evan Gill, will be hosting two exclusive events at Lamont’s Cottesloe.
Introducing the 2022 TOM CULLITY, a timeless tribute from the original vines that shaped Margaret River Cabernet.
“Perhaps the most seamless and perfectly integrated of all the Toms.”
- Ray Jordan
Tom’s plots mark the origins of Cabernet Sauvignon in Margaret River, born of one man’s vision to see vines prosper in this remote, unproven corner of the world. Poised elegance and vivid perfumes were preserved, with a core of concentrated, expressive and striking flavour from the compact, intense grape berries. Tannins are exquisite, sleek and ever-present.
“It feels like yesterday we released the first TOM CULLITY, and here we are 10 years later, reflecting on our amazing development and evolution here at Vasse Felix. Yet the TOM CULLITY remains the same in its stature, meaning and beauty from the old vines, and tells the story of only the minor nuances of 10 beautiful seasons. The 2022 simply looks vibrant, energetic, powerful and delicious.”
-Chief Winemaker, Virginia Willcock.
This is the tenth release of TOM CULLITY, from 55-year-old vines. It is the pinnacle of Vasse Felix, a wine of rare provenance and enduring grace. TOM CULLITY captures the essence of Margaret River’s most historic terroir. More than a flagship, it embodies the soul of Vasse Felix.

Vietti’s “enigmatic” 21’ & 22’ Vintage Showcase
Vietti’s highly anticipated 21’ and 22’ Releases are here!
“Barolo 2021 – an enigmatic vintage".
Walter Speller, jancisrobinson.com (August 2025)
“Readers who can find these wines should not hesitate, as they are truly magnificent.”
- Antonio Galloni, Vinous
“We are in the midst of a trio of spectacular vintages from Piedmont. Last year, 2019 delivered gleaming fruit, paired with traditional tannic structures. Next year, we’ll see the super-charged 2021, which will combine time-demanding tannins with richer palates. But this year, in the middle of the three, 2020 gives us the best of both.”
- Berry Bros & Rudd
“The consistent quality across all of his wines shows that his skills with nebbiolo extend far beyond Castiglione Falletto”
- Wine Spectator
Vietti was named Vinous Winery of the Year in 2022, Galloni remarked: “To me, Vietti has always been a reference point. All these years later, well, the wines have frankly never been better.”
