Domaine Armand Rousseau
The Estate
Domaine Armand Rousseau stands as one of the defining names of Gevrey-Chambertin, quietly shaping the reputation of Burgundy’s Côte de Nuits for over a century. Founded in the early 20th century, the domaine remains family-run, with Eric Rousseau and his daughter Cyrielle continuing a legacy built on exceptional vineyard holdings and restrained, thoughtful winemaking.
Today, the estate farms just over 15 hectares, with an extraordinary concentration of Grand Cru sites — placing it among the most important domaines in Burgundy.
The Vineyards
Rousseau’s holdings read like a map of Gevrey-Chambertin’s most revered terroirs. These include Chambertin and Chambertin-Clos de Bèze, alongside Ruchottes-Chambertin and Mazis-Chambertin, as well as the celebrated Premier Cru Clos Saint-Jacques — where the domaine holds a significant share.
Each site is treated with a light hand, allowing the nuances of vineyard and vintage to speak clearly through the wines.
The Wines
The wines of Armand Rousseau are defined by finesse, structure and longevity. Rather than power alone, they are known for their precision and quiet intensity — wines that evolve beautifully with time.
Key wines include:
Chambertin Grand Cru
Chambertin-Clos de Bèze Grand Cru
Ruchottes-Chambertin Grand Cru
Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru
Clos de la Roche Grand Cru
Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Clos Saint-Jacques
In Allocation
With limited production and global demand, Rousseau’s wines are tightly allocated each year. These are bottles that rarely circulate widely, making access through allocation one of the few reliable ways to secure them.
