Vietti’s highly anticipated 21’ and 22’ Releases are here!
“Barolo 2021 – an enigmatic vintage".
Walter Speller, jancisrobinson.com (August 2025)
“Readers who can find these wines should not hesitate, as they are truly magnificent.”
- Antonio Galloni, Vinous
“We are in the midst of a trio of spectacular vintages from Piedmont. Last year, 2019 delivered gleaming fruit, paired with traditional tannic structures. Next year, we’ll see the super-charged 2021, which will combine time-demanding tannins with richer palates. But this year, in the middle of the three, 2020 gives us the best of both.”
- Berry Bros & Rudd
“The consistent quality across all of his wines shows that his skills with nebbiolo extend far beyond Castiglione Falletto”
- Wine Spectator
Vietti was named Vinous Winery of the Year in 2022, Galloni remarked: “To me, Vietti has always been a reference point. All these years later, well, the wines have frankly never been better.”

About Vietti
In 1917 , returning after many years spent in the United States, Mario Vietti, son of Carlo, took the reins of the company, transforming it into a winemaking reality suitable for the production of high-quality wines.
At the end of the 1950s, Alfredo Currado, Luciana Vietti's husband, an oenologist and art connoisseur, brought together the great experience of the Vietti family and new intuitions capable of intertwining winemaking knowledge with art and culture.
In 1961, one of the first Cru di Barolo was created, the Rocche di Castiglione, and in 1967 the first pure Arneis vinification took place. Starting in 1974 , the wines were accompanied by Author's Labels . The Vietti brand thus became an icon and standard-bearer of some of the most important revolutions of the time.
The intellectual, professional and prospective legacy of Alfredo Currado and Luciana will be collected first, during the 80s , by their son-in-law Mario Cordero and then, starting from the 90s , by their son Luca Currado Vietti, subsequently accompanied by his wife Elena.
Commitment and vision, culture and passion. These are the key words that have contributed to the growth of the Vietti brand, now universally recognized among the best Italian wine labels. The path to quality is traveled thanks to respect for tradition and careful experimentation, where man and land have always known how to communicate.
In 2016 , the winery was purchased by the Krause family. Once again, it was the intuitions of man that made the difference. Kyle Krause decided to extend the wine-growing properties with new, renowned Crus in both the Barolo and Barbaresco denominations. Timorasso was also added to these, thanks to the purchase of plots and vineyards in the Colli Tortonesi.
At the beginning of 2023 , Luca Currado Vietti, together with his wife Elena, leaves the winery. The legacy is collected by the Krause family, already owners since 2016, standard-bearer of the new future of the Vietti brand.
As the seasons progressed, the company also grew and the focus on improvement soon became a true distinctive style of the winery. Just like the selection and care in the vineyard. Today Vietti counts within its heritage some of the most prestigious and representative vineyards of the Barolo and Barbaresco area.
Vietti maintains, today as then, those founding values, the same ones that first inspired Carlo Vietti and then all his successors. It looks to the future with even more promising and stimulating prospects. Each wine is the result of an artisanal work of understanding and interpretation of each individual terroir. Vietti is thus the place where the intelligence of the hands, applied in the vineyard and in the cellar, meets the vision.

2021 Barolo Vintage Report
Two thousand twenty-one is a superb vintage for Barolo. Many of the entry-level Barolos (often referred to as normale or classico) are terrific, always a sign of a good year. Readers will find a bevy of outstanding wines in this report. The 2021s are marked by good color, open aromatics, pliant fruit and finessed, ripe tannins. At the very pinnacle of excellence, the finest 2021s are compelling and profoundly expressive of place. They are richer than the generally austere 2019s but more vibrant than the open-knit 2020s, making 2021 the most harmonious and consistent of the group. In the final analysis, 2021 is a vintage marked by high average quality. The only thing missing is perhaps the stratospheric peaks of the most exceptional years. It is a vintage that readers will want to explore with great attention, especially considering that Mother Nature was much less generous with her bounty in 2022, 2023 and 2024.
