Blanc de Blancs
Gold Medal – Decanter World Wine Awards 2022
-Platinum Medal, 97 Points – Decanter World Wine Awards 2022
This is a delicious blanc de blancs that has aromas and flavors of pie crust, poached pears, hazelnuts, toast and spices. It’s silky and rounded on the palate with very soft bubbles. Expressive and long. Drink now.
94 Points - James Suckling, Jamessuckling.com
First Course
Brut Millésime 2018
Delicious apple, lemon and grapefruit with brioche lead into a voluminous palate with toasted almond richness and fresh precision.

Brut Millésime 2000
The Charles Heidsieck wines are no shrinking violets and never is this more pronounced than in this 2000 Brut Millesime. It’s fully developed and raring to go. Fifty-eight percent pinot noir. Show-stopping style. Developed, powerful, exuberant. It may even be too developed for some tastes. Slathers of honeycomb, baked breads, golden honeyed crumpets, cracked pepper (dry) biscuits. So intense it has a clear kirsch-like note. Sweet, ripe stonefruits. Aromatically generous, as you can imagine and as is fitting. You could convert people to the glory of high-priced Champagne with a wine like this; it has that compelling, resonant in-your-faceness. It’s certainly not for the brut naturale self-flagellating types. Fully mature. Speccy in its style.
94 Points - The Wine Front (2012)
Brut Millésime 1996
The best of long lees aged 1996 vintage champagnes are coming into their own. The bright acidities of the vintage have been tamed with long lees ageing adding textural elements combined with lower pressures that happen naturally as the champagne ages result in a very pleasing mouthfeel. Lots of dried fruits here, apricot, plum, roasted pineapple, dried mango and with a few minutes wafts of dark chocolate & coffee appear. Still energetic and no rush to drink, in great condition for a 1996. Drink now to early 2030's - These late release CH champagnes are testament to how critical it is to store your champagnes at 10-12 Celsius.
18+/20 - Nick Baker, thefinestbubble.com
Brut Millésime 1990
Tasted from magnum. Seamless from start to finish. An elegantly woven tapestry of fruit blossoms, citrus, honey and vanilla, creamy and pliant, finely integrated with the firm structure. This really sings today.

Second Course
Blanc des Millénaires 2014
This is an iconic wine, a pure expression of Chardonnay. With its intense crisp apple aroma and just the first hint of toasty maturity, the Champagne is perfectly in balance. Drink this fine wine now.
98 Points - Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast
Blanc des Millénaires 2007
Gold Medal IWC 2022
Trophy Vintage Blanc de Blancs Champagne IWC 2022
One of the great Blanc de Blancs Champagnes, this wine only hints of its age and maturity. Up front, the wine has layers of white fruits and a steely texture. It is behind those features that the brioche and almond character begins to show. This is a wonderfully balanced wine, ready to drink now.
97 Points - Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast
Intense aromas of candied citrus, grapefruit juice and lemon peel. Incredibly youthful for its age, with a chalky minerality and richness on the palate. A finely built 100% Chardonnay with very discreet dosage, flinty acidity and an overall balance suggestive of a grande marque. It has great sophistication and poise. Nominated by Michael Hill Smith MW
96 Points - Panel Tasting, Decanter
Blanc des Millénaires 1996
A perfect, aged blanc de blancs with superb aromas of chalk, pie crust, limes and green apples with buttered popcorn, jasmine and hints of green tobacco. Medium-bodied, this has a compacted palate of dense dried fruit, turning to caramel and pie crust with an energized, vivid finish. Goes on for a minute. Aged almost 25 years on the lees. Released July 24, 2024. Drink now. Only 4,000 bottles made.
100 Points - James Suckling, jamessuckling.com (July 2025)
The 1996 vintage marks the ninth release of this remarkable cuvée
At a mesmerising 28 years of age, this might go down as the latest first (official) release of a champagne vintage. There is still a brightness of radiant straw to its medium yellow hue, astonishingly luminous for such grand old age. The palate presents a captivating journey that encapsulates its slow passage through almost three decades. This is a cuvée to experience in the absence of any distractions, because you do not want to miss any moment of its thrilling dips and swoops as it reveals its multifaceted dimensions for thirty seconds after you swallow. Some wines reveal their grandeur in undeviating linearity, but here the ride is all about thrilling acceleration and breathtaking turns and swoops! The energy of the greatest crus of the Cote des Blancs sustains purity astonishingly vibrant at this age, still reminiscent of grapefruit, lemon, apple and fig, while the voluptuous personality of Charles is declared in the most enticing glacé pear, crème brûlée and freshly churned butter. Then subtle, grand depth of tertiary arises in white truffle, butter croissant, pipe smoke, candle wax and layers of glorious spice. The finish delivers tremendous concentration true to the fabled 1996 season, presented with persistence and drive. Glittering chalk minerality is energised by enduring acidity, but more than anything it is the glossy, creamy, waxy texture of Charles heightened in grand old age by almost a quarter century on lees that defines its unique magnificence. The house has been exceedingly disciplined in holding off 28 years for its release, finally unleashing it in a mesmerising moment in its grand arc of evolution, which it shows every promise of confidently holding for at least a few more years, without demanding any further age.

Third Course
Blanc des Millénaires 1990
Understated excellence. Very refined in texture. Complex, revealing honey, coffee, citrus confit and ginger notes enmeshed in the supple, fine-grained texture. Firm yet perfectly integrated. A beautiful, stately expression of Chardonnay from Champagne. Drink now through 2012. 2,000 cases made.
97 Points - Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator (2003)
Blanc des Millénaires 1983
When I first tasted the 1983 Millenaires 10 years ago, it stood a little shy compared with the more extrovert, splendiferous '85.. But in 2017 it seems finer and fresher, with even more class. Shimmering green-gold in colour, it's a fragrant, super-fresh champagne with tropical fruit flavours and a lace-like, caressing mousse. It's intense rather than over-concentrated, the finest texture supported by digestible acidity, lifting richness and opulence. This still has much to give. Disgorged in 1991.
97 Points - Michael Edwards, Decanter (at Charles Heidsieck, Reims, 30 Aug 2017)
Disgorged 1991. Debut vintage (Blanc de Blancs 1981 was a prototype). This was an underrated vintage, according to Cyril Brun.
Darker even than the 1990. Very vibrant nose, real intensity and verve. Nicely balanced and beautifully mannered. Entrancing. Definitely not going to get better but it’s absolutely lovely now. Very fine acidity counterbalanced by just the right amount of fruit and creaminess. Superb!

Champagne Charlie 1983
Sustained burnished gold in colour, this is my kind of champagne - underrated by some critics but not by the discerning; an outstanding example. It's beautifully ripe, without any excess, showing supreme freshness and vitality, and glittering acidity. Notes of honey and a hint of fig mingle with lemon peel and lime. It's so mineral, showing terrific linear definition, a real thoroughbred. Tastes uncannily similar to when I first tasted it 10 years ago. Disgorged 2004.
99 Points - Michael Edwards, Decanter (at Charles Heidsieck, Reims, 30 Aug 2017)
Fourth Course
Rosé Réserve
Gold Medal 97 points & Best in Show, Decanter World Wine Awards
The pink wave sweeping the wine world at present hasn’t left Champagne behind -- but Champagne’s way with pink wine is as distinctive as the rest of its wine offer. You cannot make wines here which are vanishingly pale, petal-pretty and evanescent: there is just too much character, strike and drive on offer in Champagne’s raw materials. There are many great Champagne ripostes to the pink festival of restraint elsewhere, but this salmon-copper rose, with its cavalier autumn fruits and its sheer breadth and audacity of flavour, struck our judges as one of the most memorable. Long, bold flavours subside slowly, vinously and lingeringly in this great gastronomic rose wine.
97 Points - Decanter World Wine Awards 2021
Rosé Millésime 2018
Rich and delicious with sliced-strawberry and pie-crust aromas and flavors with hints of cooked butter. Full-bodied with layers of fruit and fine bubbles. More like a delicate red on the palate. Pinot noir from Bouzy and chardonnay mostly from Vertus. Dosage 9 g/L. Drink now.
95 Points - James Suckling, jamessuckling.com
Millésime Rose 1988
In the glass, the 1988 Charles Heidsieck Crayères Rosé offers a stunning salmon-pink hue, with a delicate effervescence that rises elegantly. The nose is an intricate bouquet of red fruits—strawberry, raspberry, and cherry—intertwined with the subtle yet enticing aroma of rose petals and wildflowers. As the wine opens, you’ll also notice hints of toasted brioche, almonds, and a delicate spice, adding layers of complexity that come from the extended aging. The signature chalky minerality of Charles Heidsieck's terroir is present, adding a certain freshness and purity to the wine. On the palate, this Champagne is full-bodied yet elegant, with an impeccably balanced structure. The red fruit flavors are vibrant and fresh, with strawberry and red currant shining through, complemented by a soft, creamy mouthfeel that coats the palate. The complexity continues with a slightly nutty character and a faint trace of smoke from the aging process, all beautifully balanced by the crisp acidity. The finish is long and graceful, leaving lingering notes of fruit, spice, and an elegant, chalky minerality. The 1988 Charles Heidsieck Crayères Rosé is an exceptional Champagne that will pair wonderfully with a wide range of dishes, from delicate seafood like lobster or oysters to richer fare such as roasted duck or truffle-infused dishes. It also pairs beautifully with fine cheeses like aged Brie or Camembert. This bottle is a rare treasure that not only offers a stunning drinking experience but also has the potential to age even further, developing additional complexity over time. With limited availability, the 1988 Charles Heidsieck Crayères Rosé is a must-have for collectors or anyone who truly appreciates the artistry of Champagne.
