Bisol: one family name, many generations
Five centuries of history and 21 generations of a family and its love for the land and the wine that it yields.
“While the two labels have distinct identities, Bisol1542 and Jeio share a common passion for expressing the elegance of the Prosecco Superiore DOCG.” - Decanter
Bisol1542 has always authoritatively and innovatively interpreted the heroic hills of Valdobbiadene, a Unesco World Heritage Site, with wines capable of sartorially expressing the nuances of the soils and vintages.
In each bottle of Bisol Prosecco Superiore, the traditions of a family that has tended its vines in the Valdobbiadene area since 1542 are combined with the history of a landscape whose generosity is only matched by the difficulty of cultivating its steep, rocky hills. Each Bisol Prosecco Superiore has its own, unique identity which varies depending on the nature of the specific terroirs in which the grapes are grown. After all, the Glera grape, from which this type of wine is made, is particularly sensitive to variations in the soil and microclimate. (Bisol Official)

Bisol: one family name, many generations
Five centuries of history and 21 generations of a family and its love for the land and the wine that it yields.
The Beginning:
There are sources dating from as early as the 16th century attesting to the Bisol family’s presence in the heart of the historic Prosecco country, specifically the territory known as “Chartice” (the present-day “Cartizze” hillside).
Eliseo Bisol
Only the brutality of the First World War managed, temporarily, to interrupt the modest, but successful, business started by Eliseo Bisol at the beginning of the century.
The Valdobbiadene territory lay right on the battle lines between the Austrian-Hungarian forces and their Italian opponents. Despite this setback, thanks to the work of Eliseo’s son, Desiderio, the centuries-old family tradition of winegrowing was back in the best of health come the middle of the 1920s.
Desiderio "Jeio" Bisol
In the years following the Second World War, Desiderio – whose wife had affectionately nicknamed him “Jeio” – travelled the Valdobbiadene and Conegliano hills on his red Moto Guzzi motorbike, searching for the best plots of land to purchase. His dream: to create wine that captured the diverse, yet complimentary qualities of these unique terroirs.
Jeio gave each of his children a different role in the business, each according to their educational background: Antonio deals with the administration, while Eliseo is responsible for the winemaking, and Aurelio for the vineyards themselves. Claudio oversees the general running of the business.
“My grandfather Desiderio and my father Antonio were always on the lookout for the best plots to purchase. Those were the steepest ones, and as such the hardest to cultivate, but their gradient and soil composition made them perfect for growing Glera grapes. It shows how long-sighted they were, and how important the quality of the final product was for them”. - GIANLUCA BISOL

Prosecco Superiore Jeio, the fruit of the know-how of the Bisol1542 winery, was born among the hills of Valdobbiadene, where heroic viticulture is practiced.
As the name suggests, it is a type of agriculture that requires a ‘heroic’ effort on the part of the farmers and the plants themselves, due to the particular environmental conditions in which they are planted, but is capable of yielding surprising wines. From the hills of Valdobbiadene, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2019, the best grapes are selected to offer Jeio Proseccos an unmistakable taste: on the one hand the savory and botanical notes of elderflower and ginger from the steepest vineyards, and on the other hand the tropical and fruity notes, characteristic of the less steep terrain and clay soils.
Key characteristics that allow Jeio to create unique and authentic products. The Winery: Tradition and Modernity
Jeio was born from the experience of the historic Bisol1542 winery. The family winery preserves its original structure intact: dug into the rock of the land of Prosecco, it maintains at all times of the year a temperature ranging from 10 to 15 ºF.
It retains the ability to arouse intense sensations and create an engaging atmosphere linked to the history and solemnity of a brand that has lived on for centuries. -
Born in Treviso on April 9, 1966, Gianluca Bisol studied Marketing and Economics at Ca’Foscari University in Venice and Sociology of Communications at Urbino University.
Following five centuries of history and twenty-one generations of a family’s love for the land, Gianluca was involved from an early age in the wine business by his father Antonio and grandfather Desiderio, whose experience became a guiding light throughout his professional career.
Today Gianluca acts as President and Global Ambassador of Bisol1542 and Jeio, the winery’s second label named for Gianluca’s grandfather Desiderio “Jeio” Bisol.
Territory: The Prosecco and Bisol1542 Universe
Valdobbiadene is the cradle where modern Prosecco was forged, the area universally recognised as the most suitable area for growing Glera grapes.
Its hills are the Prosecco Superiore DOCG hills, declared a Unesco World Heritage Site in 2019 for the extraordinary uniqueness of their landscapes and the heroic viticulture.
The Prosecco area has 38,708 hectares and is divided between:
Superiore di Cartizze DOG 108 hectares
Prosecco Superiore DOG 10,600 hectares
Prosecco DOC 28,000 hectares
The Prosecco Superiore appellation, to which Bisol1542 belongs, originates in the historic area of vocation of the Glera grape and accounts for about 20% of the total Prosecco production
Bisol1542 is located in Valdobbiadene in the heart of the historic Prosecco Superiore DOCG production area.
The Prosecco Superiore DOC appellation is nestled between the Dolomites and Venice, in a mosaic of different terroirs that give rise to a kaleidoscope of sensory nuances.
