Biondi-Santi
The origin of Brunello - Biondi-Santi remains its most enduring and defining voice.
The Estate
Biondi-Santi is one of the most important names in Italian wine, credited with establishing Brunello di Montalcino as a fine wine in the late 19th century. Based at Tenuta Il Greppo, the estate built its reputation on a singular vision of Sangiovese, producing wines defined by longevity, restraint, and a deep respect for tradition.
The Vineyards
The estate’s vineyards surround Il Greppo, just outside Montalcino, at elevations that favour freshness and structure. Soils of galestro and clay contribute to the wine’s firm backbone, while the site’s exposure supports slow, even ripening — key to the estate’s age-worthy style.
The Wines
Biondi-Santi wines are known for their precision, structure, and extraordinary capacity to age. Released later than most Brunello, they are built for the long term, often evolving over decades rather than years.
Key wines include:
Rosso di Montalcino
Brunello di Montalcino
Brunello di Montalcino Riserva
